The Hammerheads will face the Charlotte Eagles on Saturday night at Legion Stadium in the semifinals of the 2009 USL-2 playoffs.
The Hammerheads finished the 2009 regular season at the top of the league table and will begin their quest for a championship on Saturday. This will be the fifth time that Charlotte and Wilmington have faced off this season. The Hammerheads have a 1-1-1 record during the regular season against the Eagles as well as topped them in the Open Cup tournament.
Head Coach David Irving commented “Playing Charlotte is always difficult and I do not expect this game to be any different. We have a great rivalry with the Eagles but there is no animosity between the two clubs with both respecting each others organization. I wish Sweinhart and Johnson the best of luck as they retire after this season; they have been great role models for the Eagles organization.
The game will kickoff this Saturday August 22nd at 7:00pm at Legion Stadium. The Legion Stadium ticket office will open beginning at 5:00pm on Saturday and tickets may be purchased for $12 for adults and $8 for youth. Youth passes are not valid for playoff games.
