With first place in the USL Second Division on the line Saturday evening the Hammerheads were able to pull off a 2-1 victory over the City Islanders to claim the soul possesion of first place.
The first half was evenly matched and the score stood at 0-0 at half time. Harrisburg was first to get on the board in the 54th minute with a goal by Chad Severs. The Hammerheads were awarded a penalty kick in the 63rd minute and Kenny Bundy was able to send the ball by the keeper to make the score even at 1-1. In the 73rd minute the ball was deflected off a Harrisburg defender and into the net for an own goal giving the Hammerheads a 2-1 lead.
In goal tonight for the Hammerheads was newly signed Chris McClellan. McClellan will be with the Hammerheads for the rest of the season. Tonight's victory also clinched a playoff spot for the Hammerheads. The Hammerheads are back in action next Saturday evening when they travel to Pittsburgh.
