Hammerheads blank Western Mass 4-0

July 10, 2009
The Wilmington Hammerheads entered tonight’s game with an injured cast. Tim Karalexis, Daryl Sattler, Tweety Walters, and Chris Bagley all of which are normally in the starting line up would not be able to suit up tonight. This would not stop the Hammerheads from digging deep in the bench and coming out with a win.

The Hammerheads took an onslaught of shots tonight were able to get on the board in the 28th minute when the Mark Briggs scored his first goal of the season. He took the shot from about four yards outside the goalie box. The goalie fumbled the ball as it trickled into the back of the net.

The second half was a nightmare for the visitors Western Mass. Colin Falvey scored his first goal of the season in the 68th minute with some fancy footwork in the eighteen yard box. And just a couple minutes later Kenny Bundy was able to place the ball in the back of the net to put the Hammerheads up 3-0. Jamie Watson had all three assists and then he felt he needed to top that with a goal for himself in the 83rd minute to put the Hammerheads up 4-0 which would complete the nights scoring frenzy.

Hammerheads goalkeeper Kyle Polak recorded his first shutout of the season with eight saves on the night.

The Hammerheads will be back at Legion Stadium next Friday July 17th when they face up against the Real Maryland Monarchs at 7:00pm.
