The sky was black and the thunder was roaring but that did not stop the Hammerheads faithful fans from watching their favorite team. Kickoff was at 7:00pm and the Hammerheads were looking to catch up with the league leaders the Harrisburg City Islanders. 
The Hammerheads started off the night in their standard 4-4-2 formation and looked to be in good shape. In the 19th minute the Hammerheads good form began to slip. There was a lot of confusion in the box and three Hammerheads players within arm reach of one another. In the mass confusion a well crossed ball came into the box and landed on the foot of forward Chad Sevars who sent the ball to the back of the net with ease.
The Hammerheads did not let the Harrisburg goal bring them down because less then a minute later forward Jamie Watson was making a run on goal and right before he could take his shot he was taking down in the box. He took the penalty shot and the keeper saved the initial shot, but Watson was ready to pounce on his own rebound and tie up the game.
The Hammerheads kept applying lots of pressure to the Harrisburg goal keeper Tomer Chencinski and finally after ten shots on goal they finally got the eleventh shot in the goal. Veteran midfielder Kenny Bundy sent in a great ball to the far post. Veteran defender Tim Karalexis made a crafty play off balanced while falling over and was still able to get a piece of his head on the ball and score. The half ended with a score of (2-1).
The second half saw some action in the 70th minute when Kenny Bundy was able to receive a high corner kick and volley the ball into the back of the net to give the Hammerheads a (3-1) lead. The game looked as if it was going to end that way until the Harrisburg City Islanders scored in extra time. The Islanders tried franticly to get another goal, but their efforts were denied and the Wilmington Hammerheads were able to knock down the league leaders (3-2).
