The Hammerheads opened up their 2009 season this afternoon in Charlotte. This was the first of three meetings scheduled between these two teams this season.
The Hammerheads scored first in the 29th minute with a goal by Jamie Watson. The Hammerheads took this 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Eagles then struck their first goal in the 49th minute off of a corner kick to make the score 1-1. The Eagles then scored once again with a goal by Dustin Swinehart to put the Eagles on top 2-1.
Aaron King, whom is on loan from the Railhawks, recorded a goal in the 64th minute for the Hammerheads. He was assisted by Chris Murray. This made the score once again even at 2-2. This score stood and each team picked up one point.
The Hammerheads return to action next Saturday for their home opener at Legion Stadium. The gates will open at 5:30pm for the Buffalo Wild Wings Pregame Tailgate Party which will include live music and free wings. T he game against Crystal Palace will kickoff at 7:00pm.
