Wilmington, NC – The Hammerheads have once again reached agreements with a player whom has Major League Soccer experience. Head Coach David Irving was able to sign forward Jamie Watson pending USL and USSF approval.
Watson spent two seasons at UNC Chapel Hill where he was named Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year. After two seasons with the Tarheels Watson was drafted 13th overall in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake where he spent three seasons and then he had a one year stint with FC Dallas.
Watson also has been a member of various US National Teams including being a starting forward for the 2003 Under 17 World Championships in Finland. He also spent two years at the US U-17 Residency Program.
Hammerheads Head Coach David Irving commented “Jamie is a great signing for our organization. He is a goal scorer and that is exactly the type of player we need. I am glad we were able to bring him to Wilmington and hope that this will be his stepping stone back to the MLS.”
