Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington Hammerheads have secured three more players for the 2009 season pending USL and USSF approval. Goalkeeper Kyle Polak will return for his second season with the Hammerheads. Defender Zeke Dombrowski and midfielder John DeVae have also signed agreements for the season.
Goalkeeper Kyle Polak is returning for another season with the Hammerheads. Polak spent two seasons at California State Fullerton and

then transferred to California State University Dominguez Hills. Polak holds the record for career wins (44) and career shut outs (24), as well as was named Male Athlete of the Year in 2006 at CSUDH. Polak was named to the First Team all California Collegiate Athletic Association in 2006. Before his first season with the Hammerheads Polak was a member of the Chivas USA reserve team of Major League Soccer.
Head Coach David Irving commented “I am glad we are able to bring Kyle back this season. He did not see much playing time last year but I feel that he learned a lot from John O’Hara last season and will be fighting for the starting job this season.”
Defender Zeke Dombrowski is a graduate of University Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he played for the Panthers for four seasons. Dombrowski has also had a stint with the Des Moines Menace of the USL Premier Development League. Professional soccer is not new to Zeke, four of his brothers have also played soccer at the professional level.
Hammerheads Assistant Coach Chris Bagley stated “Zeke comes from a great soccer family and had a successful collegiate career. He will bring a hard working attitude to the Hammerheads organization.”
Midfielder John DeVae has also agreed to a contract with the Hammerheads for the 2009 season. DeVae played for Butler University where he was the second leading scorer and earned All Great Lakes Region Honors in 2006. DeVae has had professional playing stints with the Cleveland City Stars as well as in Australia.
Hammerhead Head Coach David Irving commented “John will be a real crowd favorite this season, I am glad to have been able to bring him to Wilmington. He is an exciting player to watch and plays with a lot of flare.”
The Hammerheads kickoff the 2009 regular season on April 25
th at Charlotte and then will return to Legion Stadium on May 2
