Wilmington, NC – The United Soccer League has announced the Second Division schedule for the 2009 season. This year’s second division will include a nine team format where 20 regular season games will once again be played. All teams from last year return with the exception of the 2008 division champions the Cleveland City Stars. The City Stars have moved into the USL First Division for the upcoming season.
The Hammerheads will begin the season on the road April 25 against the Charlotte Eagles but will then host Crystal Palace at Legion Stadium on May 2nd for the home opener. With only nine teams in the division this season the Hammerheads will face the Charlotte Eagles, Richmond Kickers, Real Maryland Monarchs and the Bermuda Hogges each three times throughout the duration of the season. They will play Pittsburg Riverhounds, Crystal Palace, Harrisburg City Islanders and the Western Mass Pioneers each twice.
All of the Hammerheads home games will be played at Legion Stadium and will kickoff at 7:00pm this season. Tickets may be purchased by calling the ticket office at 910.202.0518 or by visiting www.wilmingtonhammerheads.com.
