Hammerheads Soccer Camps

The Wilmington Hammerheads enter 2009 in their 14th season playing in the United Soccer League’s Second Division. We have made Legion Stadium our home and in 2008 averaged over 3,300 people at our home games. A locally owned and operated franchise, the Hammerheads have established themselves as an integral part of the local community.

The Hammerheads Camp and Clinic Program also enters its 14th year in 2009. Each year over 500 kids from Wilmington and beyond participate in this program. The camps provide professional instruction in a fun filled environment with the Hammerheads professional players and coaching staff. The players and coaching staff provide positive role models for these aspiring young soccer players.

Awards Ceremony: 11:30am on the last day of camp there with be a ceremony to hand out t-shirts, awards, and Camper of the Week. After the presentation the Hammerheads players will gladly sign autographs. Parents are welcome to attend.
 
Camper of the Week: will be our special guest at one of the Hammerheads home games. They will get to go into the Hammerheads locker room prior to kick-off to meet the team.
 
Participation in the “Human Tunnel” – All campers are invited to come out onto the field before the game. They will line up on both sides of the center line and cheer on the team as they are introduced through the “tunnel.” Campers must wear their camp t-shirts to participate!
 
Specialty Camps
  • “JUST FOR FEET”: this specialty camp is conducted by the Hammerheads coaching staff. It is designed to improve both the technical and mental aspects of the game. The campers will learn from the wealth of knowledge brought to them by the Hammerheads coaching staff through their dynamic and innovative teaching methods. Player development is enhanced with the small group coaching. Campers may join to regular camp for the full day.
Coaching Time: 9am-11:15am
Small-sided Games: 11:15am – 12noon

  • GOALKEEPER CAMP: This specialty keeper camp focuses on the fundamentals of goal keeping, including technical and tactical skills such as ball skills, footwork, shot handling, fielding, crosses, one versus one, collection and distribution, and overall commanding of the goal area. Qualified coaching assures each goalkeeper their best opportunity for reaching their highest playing potential. Campers may join the regular camp for the full day.
Coaching Time: 9am-11:15am
Small-sided Games: 11:15am – 12noon

  • TEAM CAMP: This camp is open to teams from the recreational to the high school level. The team will be assigned a qualified professional coach to work on developing both technical ability and tactical awareness. The camp is designed to focus on any topic or weakness of team play. The valuable time spent together will build team camaraderie and enhance team performance. Minimum 10 players.
Morning Session: 9am-11:30 am
Afternoon Session: 1pm – 3pm
 
 
 
Water and shade will be available for campers at all times.
A doctor and athletic trainer will be on call at all times.
