ALL INTERNSHIP POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED FOR 2009 SEASON
The Wilmington Hammerheads have variety of internships available. Each of these internships provides an opportunity for hands on experience within a professional sports organization. All interns with the Wilmington Hammerheads are eligible for college credit. Although unpaid monetarily interns will gain extremely valuable experiences within the sports industry.
The Hammerheads internships are available in the spring and summer. (Must be available to work through mid August)
All interns are required to work 15-20 hours in the office each week as well as be present at all 2009 home games and other required events. Specific office hours may vary from week to week. Interns have a flexible schedule and be available some nights, weekends and holidays.

Internships Available
Media Relations: 1 position
Wilmington Hammerheads Media Relations Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Produce content and press releases for the website.
- Create all pre-game and post-game stories (knowledge of rules and regulations of soccer required).
- Produce Hammerheads newsletter.
- Develop and produce unique story ideas for the website.
- Assist with the creation of the game day PA script.
- Respond to all media requests.
- Assist local and visiting media on game day.
- Assist with special events.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills.
Community Relations/Ticketing: 2 positions
Wilmington Hammerheads Community Relations Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination of player and mascot appearances.
- Represent the Hammerheads at community and marketing events.
- Coordinate ticket sales: includes taking and processing online and phone orders as well as printing tickets and assisting with the ticket office operation on game days.
- Assist with the coordination of all Hammerheads community events including camps, clinics, and birthday parties.
- Coordinate all in-kind donations including tickets and memorabilia.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus but not a requirement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Game Day Operations/Marketing: 1 position
Wilmington Hammerheads Game Day Operations/Marketing Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist with all aspects of the game day operation which includes, but is not limited to, coordinating national anthem singers, ball staff, and half-time performances.
- Assist with creating travel plans for Hammerheads away games.
- Create ideas of marketing the Hammerheads organization to Wilmington and surrounding areas.
- Assist in sponsorship fulfillment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Publisher a plus.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Operations: 1 position
Wilmington Hammerheads Team Operations Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Help with day-to-day training set-up and practice.
- Assist coaches with administrative work (data input, try-outs, etc.).
- Assist coaches with various tasks (uniforms, equipment, etc.).
- Help set up home, away, and referee locker rooms on game days.
- Responsible for being a liaison for referees on game days.
- Assist with all camps and clinics.
- Other duties as assigned.
